The last time I ventured into China Town for First Friday it was for the Hot Mess Hair Show. This time my girls Kerri and Kim and I opted to WATCH the show instead of being in it. The theme was "Seven Deadly Sins" and it was a lil sexier than out "Winter" themed fiasco.
Before the show, Kerri and I had dinner at Murphy's. I had eaten there once before for a promotion party but it was primarily bar food. I got an open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies and Kerri got a sweet and sour salmon. The food was good but the company was better. We were waiting for Kim and her hubby to show up but since they were having cab issues (what cabby calls and asks for directions?) we saw it was a sign to order dessert. I got an apple crisp a la mode and Kerri got a super yummy chocolate pot de creme. Hers tasted like a combo of mousse and pudding. Super rich and decadent.
Just as we finished our dessert out boys showed up, they were at at O call, and shortly after Kim and her arm candy showed up. The girls and I headed over to meet up with our friend Rose to watch the hair show and in true man fashion, the fellas opted to stay at the bar and would meet up with us after the show.
The show was interesting to say the least and there were a ton of models. The highlight of the show for me was the grand finale. It was an homage to the Disney Princesses, but all sexed up! Kerri, who works for Disney, was mortified, and in true Kerri fashion she said "This is NOT Mouse approved."
Side note, there is an easy way to tell if Kerri is getting buzzed. If she starts talking about the fact that she works for Disney, she is feelin' it.
After the hair show we walked across the street to a restaurant/bar, which is on my to eat at list, Indigo, where we met up with our respective fellas.
Aside from the redic $10 cover and cramped corridors the space was really cool. We ended up running into several of our friends and enjoyed the music, libations and company until 1 a.m!
